Meet STK NATION'S own Josh Curll.  Big THANKS to Josh for updating STK's slide show on our homepage.  That's Josh in back with his band Son's of Malarkey - Portland's sexiest Kilted Celtic Rock band!  

Where do you live?  I'm from Portland, OR but currently living in Tri-Cities, WA

What do you do for work?  Systems Administrator

More importantly, what do you do for fun?  Anything related to music. Either performing or attending concerts.

What are your hobbies?  Music, making or listening. I also I like cooking.

Do you have any special talents?  I make pasta and ramen noodles from scratch.

How did you come to know STK?  Got to know them through my friend Dan. They've been a friends of Sons of Malarkey and I for I think 5 years now.

What is your favorite event STK hosts or vends?  Galway Bay Celtic Music Festival and Oregon Brew Fest. I always stop by say hi even if I'm not wearing my kilt.

What is the Favorite Feature on your STK? The front pocket. Just holds a lot. Plus it weighs it down, so when I forget, it still leaves a little mystery.

How many Kilts do you own?  2

What is your favorite Kilt color? Army Green

What secret thing do you put in your hidden pocket?  My capo for my guitar

What do you carry on your bandoleer (other than attachable pockets)?  I just do the pockets, but in those... Guitar Picks, guitar strings, and a bottle neck slide.

What typically do you wear with your STK?   My STK t-shirt. Other times, a shirt and a tie. They're great for formal occasions.

Where do you wear your STK?  Everywhere I can. The beach, hiking, concerts, formal occasions. Also my band performs in them a lot.

Tell Us About Yourself. 
My name is Tarjei Ledvina.

 Where do you live?
 I currently reside in Lake Tapps Washington.

What do you do for work?
I am a Coaxial Designer and Drafter doing subcontracting for Comcast. I am also in the Washington State National Guard.

More importantly, what do you do for fun? 
I have a Deep love of gaming on many mediums. Whether it is through cards (Munchkin, Magic, Uno, Poker) board games (Clue, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan) or Video (Destiny, Diablo, Hexic). However, I also have a DEEP love of theater and acting and recently starred in an adaptation of Guys and Dolls.

Do you have any special talents?
As far as special talents, I suppose Dyslexia would be among them. I have an uncanny ability to say something that is very close to what I meant to say and at the same time being WAY off. It is something that my friends don't hesitate to point out with their uproars of laughter.

How did you come to know STK?
I have always wanted a Kilt, but never thought to make it a reality until a friend of mine told me he was having a Celtic wedding. Knowing I was going to be going to vacation near Port Townsend I decided that I would get one at Wandering Angus as it is the only place I had ever seen a kilt for sale. StumpTown was the brand for sale that day and I have loved it ever since!

What is your favorite event STK hosts or vends?
Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to attend an STK event, but I am hoping to catch a showroom.

What is the Favorite Feature on your STK?
My favorite feature of my STK is the adjustable waistband. As a bigger guy with goals of losing weight I didn't want to waste my money on my waist size (yay english).

How many Kilts do you own?
I currently only have one. It is black. And what doesn't go with black. I have managed to fit in walking down Pikes Place, rocking out at Pain in the Grass, and showing team pride at a Seahawks game.

What secret thing do you put in your hidden pocket?
Usually I keep everything from my keys to my vaporizer and juice in my secret pocket. It’s too much fun reaching in there to pull something out while watching people’s faces as they think I am reaching for something...

What do you carry on your bandoleer?
On my bandoleer I usually keep my wallet or phone. nothing special there.

What typically do you wear with your STK?
What wouldn’t I wear with my kilt, but I guess it’s what’s underneath the kilt that counts. so normally tall socks and dress shoes or short socks and my Keens.

Where do you wear your STK?
I’ve gone dressed up to weddings, punked out for concerts and let the spirit flow at football games. Only place i haven’t worn it to is to the indoor rockwall...

The fact that it is modeler, the pockets on the waist band can be removed and that they are made in Portland.

Usually a Flask filled with some very high Abv substance of questionable origin

Pouches that accompany the kilt and if the circumstances allow a small dagger or sword.

What typically do you wear with your STK? 

Beer shirt, my Sporran, and some times beer socks

Where do you wear your STK? 

Every where...literally I ran hood to coast in my black kilt in 2013...there is never and occasion where a kilt is inappropriate.

Tell Us About Yourself
My name is Tony Allen I am a 25 year old Disabled veteran who spends most of the time helping other veterans. I have also started going back to school, my favorite class is my blacksmithing.

Where do you live?

Oregon City, Oregon

What do you do for work?
I am medically retired out of the US Army, but most of my time is spent as Sr. Vice Commander for a local Veterans of Foreign Wars post

What do you do for fun?

I love to go to the shooting range, and I have started blacksmithing. 

What are your special talents?
My favorite hobby is to go to the range and barbecuing.

How did you come to know STK?
I was looking for a locally made kilts and came across Stump Town, glad I did.

Sadly I have not been able to attend a event, but I hope to change that in the future.

I love the ability to add more pockets.

I carry a little bottle opener shaped as a pig.

What typically do you wear with your STK?It depends on what I am doing that day, it could range from a basic shirt to my shooting gear.

Where do you live?

I spend my time between Tigard and Mars mostly. 

What do you do for work?
Project Management and Process Improvement. And annoy those who try to do things in a terribly unproductive or destructive manner.

Annoy mundane people.

I played a doctor on TV. Really.

How did you come to know STK?

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest canvas, held aloft a StumpTown Kilt from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Mad Martian, was to wear a StumpTown Kilt. That, and I went to the Highland Games in 2013.

Three: Red, White, and Green.

Green! No, red! Hmmm... I like them all!

That thing is secret!

Sometimes a pen, sometimes a flashlight, and sometimes time itself.

What typically do you wear with your STK?
A giant broccoli head (green kilt). Or perhaps devil horns (red kilt). Or possibly antlers (white kilt).

Where do you wear your STK?
I would wear it on a boat. I would wear it with a coat. I would wear it on the land. I would wear it in the sand. I would wear it in my car. I would wear it in a bar. I would wear it here and there. I would wear it EVERYWHERE!

Where do you live?Portland, Oregon

What do you do for work?
Co-own 67 Music, Celtic Media and Promotions with my buddy skOt Cranmore.

What do you do for fun?
Besides all the grand fun we have with 67, I love to see & hear live music. Camping, hiking, travel (I hope to do more of that) and just enjoying everything the Portland/Pacific NW has to offer us. We live in a great place!

Do you have any hobbies?
I live doing the creative stuff with 67, helping with the video work and assisting in creating/crafting stories for our audience.

Do you have any special talents?
Hmmm, well I can play drums & guitar, (though I almost never do-) maybe I should ramp that up too!

How did you come to know STK?

I believe it was from Two Kilts Brewing in Sherwood some time ago. I was in there & heard Chris & Alex talking about the Kilts they got from STK, so then I looked you up & the rest is history!

What has been your favorite event STK has hosted/vended?
Always love the free beer nights you host, and love seeing you guys at the Portland Highland Games! I'm thinkin' I need another free beer night or just come visit you at your new showroom & hang out with ya.

What is your Favorite Feature of your STK?I think the deep internal front pouch pocket. I love wearing a Sporran with a traditional Kilt, but sometimes a Sporran can be cumbersome-the large front pocket on the STK's are roomy & easier to access.

How many Kilts do you own?  What is your favorite color?
I'm up to four now, including my black STK with chrome rivets. More coming I'm sure…. Red's my fav color in general, my Hamilton Modern Tartan is gorgeous. I'll have to consider a red STK.


What secret thing do you put in your hidden pocket?
Nothing too secret or special- (sometimes the obligatory 'lil metal vessel….. ) I have heard rumor that up to four PBR pounders fit in there real discreetly haha!

What do you carry on your bandoleer?
I find it useful for business cards.

What typically do you wear with your STK?
A tee or something else super casual. That's what I love about my STK, one can go casual or dress-up looks great as well.

Where in particular do you wear your STK?
Usually pubs, but I've worn mine on vaca in Maui, or just to the store. You can wear these everywhere!

What activities do you do in your STK?
Aforementioned pub nites, concerts, sessions, anywhere really- that's a testament to how versatile the STK is.

Where Do You Live?
In the wilderness of Montana. My wife calls me her Montana Mountain Man

What do you do for work?
I wear a blue shirt and sell nuts and bolts.

More importantly, what do you do for fun?
Hiking the beautiful mountains of Montana, brewing my own beer. Come over for a growler fill!

What are your hobbies/special talents?
I can cook just about any meal you want. My wife prefers my cooking to her own!

How did you come to know STKS?
Bought other brands to try them out, my wife bought me my StumpTown one for a wedding present. The quality is unsurpassed!

I have yet to attend any events.

I'm a business manager for the non-profit screen printing shop New Avenues INK, by day. Promo soldier for 67 Music by night.

Abstract painting. I love to create art and attempting to get what's in my head on to canvas.

My new hobby is gardening and lawn care. Just bought a house, so...

Do you have any special talents?

You mean the kind that can be listed here? I have a talent for irritating folks, complicating simple situations, and losing my car keys.

How did you come to know STK?

Some may know that I own and operate a Celtic music company. We are always striving to bring the Pac NW Celtic community together wherever and whenever we can. It was doing some research online that I came across STK. I was very impressed with the fact that Portland had it's own modern utility kilt.

What has been your favorite event STK has hosted/vended?Always love the free beer nights you host, and love seeing you guys at the Portland Highland Games! I'm thinkin' I need another free beer night or just come visit you at your new showroom & hang out with ya.

What is your Favorite Feature of your STK?

Honestly, it's the durability. No need for delicate upkeep, you can just put it on and go. STK is fast replacing your favorite pair of jeans. Now it's your favorite kilt.

How may Kilts do you own? 
I have 2 STK kilts.


What is your favorite color?

Forest green and dirt brown. I've run a marathon in one and a 10k in the other. I dig both of the colors I have, But, I also dig seeing what other STK nation members do with their kilts. They might have colors I probably wouldn't get, but, the way they accessorize them rocks!

What secret thing do you put in your hidden pocket?
Usually just tens of thousands of dollars in cash. Really, my cell phone and my notes if I'm doing an interview or feature piece.

What do you carry on your bandoleer?
Mostly, my keys, knife, and STK pockets. I'm curious to see what other STK peeps carry on theirs...

What typically do you wear with your STK?
That's the great thing about an STK kilt. You can go with a t-shirt and converse (Like someone we all know, huh!) or really dress out, with the hose, flash, sporran, etc. And anything in-between. They're so versatile. I generally wear a button down shirt, Scottish hose, and my boots.

Where in particular do you wear your STK?
To many Celtic music events and concerts. To Highland games and festivals, to work, up to the corner store, to the DMV... Like I said, it's replacing your jeans.

What activities do you do in your STK?
Screen print, run, consume pints, conduct interviews, tempt my wife, meet friends, create abstract masterpieces, read, watch the tele, and more.

Hubby was researching local kilt companies to have one made to wear in the Shamrock Run. I saw that y'all made kilts for women so I of course had to have one too!

Where do you live?

What do you do for work?
Currently I work at Pottery Barn Kids in sales but eventually I will be a Design Specialist designing nurseries and children's rooms for guests.

What do you do for fun?
For fun I partner stunt(cheer leading), ski at Mt. Hood Meadows, hike and geocache, and watch Disney movies!

Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies include cheer leading, tumbling, and going on adventures with Louie.

Do you have any special talents?
My special talents include stunting with my boyfriend(Louie) and being an interior design history buff of sorts. 

How did you come to know STK?
I first encountered STK at the Oregon Brew Fest July of 2014.

What has been your favorite event STK has hosted/vended?
I visited the show room the weekend before St. Patrick's Day to surprise my boyfriend with a new kilt. What I thought was going to be a quick visit turned into 2.5 hours of chatting! I haven't visited on a Free Beer Night, but I will go to the next one if I can because I expect it to be just as much fun as visiting that night!

What is your Favorite Feature of your STK?
I love how all STK kilts have varying waist size ability. This is perfect for me because I am little so mine fits my small stature but this feature is most important to my boyfriend who changes waist size easily. His kilt is always comfortable on him when his jeans often don't!

How may Kilts do you own? 
Currently between my boyfriend and I we each own one but I am determined to buy a new color this summer!  

What is your favorite color?

My current kilt is black so that it matches any thing I choose to wear with it but my over all favorite kilt color is the purple which will be my next purchase!

What secret thing do you put in your hidden pocket?
My phone.

What typically do you wear with your STK?
I wear a nice shirt with my kilt, either button down or a "V" neck.

Where in particular do you wear your STK?
Anywhere that is very "Keep Portland Weird." For example: my boyfriend and I wore them downtown on St. Patrick's Day, we wore them for the art openings on first Thursday, and we will wear them at the Oregon country Fair again this year!

What activities do you do in your STK?
Well mainly we love stunting in the kilts as seen in our pictures but we like to wear them for special occasions or activities and I have worn mine to work.
